Quote: Travel Inspired

" Why do you go away? So that you can come back. So that you can see the place you came from with new eyes and extra colors. And the people here see you differently, too. Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving. "
Terry Pratchett

Travel : Documenting your trip

Documenting your trip
Just because you're travelling with your best friend, or an entire overland group, doesn't mean you're
going to collectively remember everything.

When you're going solo, its even harder. A journal, camera, tape recorder, video camera, colouring pencils, are the most common tools for recording your journey and its impact on you.
Taking all these is overkill, but keeping some record of your trip is an excellent idea.

Travel : Culture shock

Culture shock is simply a dramatic way of saying that things aren't quite the way they are at home. It sounds dramatic precisely because it can be.

When you change everything you eat ,say, do, smell and hear at the same time, the effect can sometimes be overwhelming.  Especially if amplified by sadness or apprehension about leaving home, fatigue from the journey or illness.

The natural tendency is to return home immediately to the comfort of our home.
If you give yourself time, this urge will almost certainly pass and you can enjoy your journey where ever you are.

Local Interests: Waterton, AB

Waterton Lakes National Park is in southern Alberta, Canada, bordering Montana’s Glacier National Park.

It’s known for its chain of lakes, including the large Upper and Middle Waterton lakes, flanked by the Rocky Mountains.

The Red Rock Parkway crosses the prairie to the small Red Rock Canyon.
Bison graze near the Bison Paddock Loop Road.
In Waterton village, a pathway offers close-up views of Cameron Falls.

First time at Waterton, AB. It sure was a lovely visit. It was quite windy, but still it was a beautiful weather and quite walk around a beautiful town.

My Travel : Madeira , Portugal

Famous Toboggan Ride
Combine the thrill of the Toboggan ride with the fabulous scenery of Madeira

Leaving Funchal , you will head through the outskirts to Monte, noted for its many fine properties and gardens.
Drivers in straw hats are waiting just outside the Church to take you on your wicker basket ride,
which covers the 2 mile descent in ten minutes.
A cushioned seat softens the ride and you will be in the safe hands of the drivers, who run alongside,
pushing and steering using their rubber-soled boots as brakes.

Now heading into inland to Pico dos Barcelos,  enjoy the stunning views of the town of Funchal and the southern villages coast  scattered on green slopes.

Petched on the hill above Funchal is the twin-towered 18th century  Church of our Lady.
In the centre of the high altar stands the statue of Our Lady of Monte,
credited with being the source of many miracles.

Last stop on the tour at the Old Blandy's Wine Lodge,
with tasting of the heart-warming nectar synonymous with this enchanting island.
