Just because you're travelling with your best friend, or an entire overland group, doesn't mean you're
going to collectively remember everything.
When you're going solo, its even harder. A journal, camera, tape recorder, video camera, colouring pencils, are the most common tools for recording your journey and its impact on you.
Taking all these is overkill, but keeping some record of your trip is an excellent idea.
