My Travel : Langkawi - Bat Cave and Mangroves

Photo: Langkawi, officially known as Langkawi the Jewel of Kedah,
is an archipelago of 104 islands in the Andaman Sea, some 30km off the mainland coast of northwestern Malaysia.

After an hour - long transfer to Port Kiliam , we boarded a boat and glided off into the Mangrove forest to start a new adventure.

Photo: We visited a Fish Farm where we could walk along the platforms to see a variety of marine life separated by fish nets in the sea, including Moral eels, Horse Shoe Crabs, Mantis Prawns and Sting Rays . The scenery is quite unique, one can hardly describe in words.

Photo: Take a walk on the wooden boardwalk which runs right through the 196 foot- long cave.

We witnessed hundreds of bats clinging upside down from the ceiling. This particular cave was formed millions of years ago, one can marvel at the formation of stalagmites and stalactites inside..
Photo: We continued our tour where we enjoyed a moment of Eagle spotting .
We watched the airborne predators hover over the mangrove trees, and swoop to catch their prey.
The eagle population in Kilim has grown from an estimated 15 pairs to over 400 in 30 years.
